$10,000 Goal

Trust for Public Land (TPL) creates parks and protects land for people, ensuring healthy, livable communities for generations to come. We believe access to the outdoors is a fundamental human need and essential to our health and well-being. We are committed to creating more places that bring us outside—parks, trails, playgrounds, and public lands—and making them available and welcoming to everyone, everywhere. We put communities first by helping them realize their vision of parks and green spaces that improve people’s health, nurture their joy, and strengthen their connection to the outdoors and one another.

Since 1972 and for nearly four decades in Colorado, TPL has used the power of open spaces, parks, trails, and schoolyards to transform communities through improved physical and mental health, safety, community pride, and long-term environmental benefits. We are working in cities across the country to ensure every resident, regardless of income, race, age, or ability, has access to a high-quality park within a 10-minute walk of home.

Background Statement

In Colorado, our focus continues to be on protecting landscapes and open spaces from the threat of development and ensuring that residents in every community across the state have access to high quality green spaces that deliver critical wellness benefits. Despite its reputation as an epic outdoor destination, statewide, 1 million Colorado residents lack access to a close-to-home park, and development continues at a fierce pace. As those threats grow, so must our work to conserve outdoor spaces.
