Collegiate Peaks Chapter ofTrout Unlimited

Collegiate Peaks Trout Unlimited is the oldest conservation nonprofit in the Upper Arkansas River Valley. We have been working to protect the free-flowing rivers of the Upper Ark watershed for more than 40 years.

Trout Unlimited is the voice for wild trout and salmon. We are a community of passionate anglers and conservationists dedicated to ensuring the fish we love have clean, cold, and connected habitats to thrive in. We partner with landowners, government agencies, and our local community to do boots-on-the-ground restoration work that will preserve our healthy streams for future generations. 

Every river needs a champion. We are champions for the Arkansas River and its tributaries because the healthy rivers that support wild trout are the same ones that deliver clean drinking water to our homes and support our vibrant economy.

To realize this vision, we:

•  Work actively on conservation projects in the Upper Arkansas watershed, partnering with state and local agencies, other non profits, and engaged citizens to design and execute vital habitat conservation and protection. 
• Engage with youth in our community through a variety of educational initiatives, including providing ecological education programming at Salida and Buena Vista school field trips, and hosting kids' fishing derbies on July 4th and Labor Day.
• Work with Project Healing Waters to share the joy of fly fishing with disabled veterans.
• Provide adult education programs in fly fishing and fly tying.
• Engage with policy makers to ensure that the concerns of rivers are heard in decision-making
