Since 1989, TREES PLEASE volunteers have planted over 5,000 trees in the City of Pueblo's parks, schools, streetscapes and greenways. In 2025, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, we implemented our very first community tree giveaway, the Community Canopy Program. This program offers free and low-cost trees to Pueblo residents, with a focus on neighborhoods with low tree canopy.
Trees are more than a luxury - they are a critical component of a thriving, healthy community. As more cities across the world are experiencing rising summer temperatures, and as we are continually losing trees to drought, disease, storm damage and old age, it is more important than ever to invest in Pueblo's urban forest. Your donation will enable us to purchase trees to plant in public spaces throughout Pueblo, as well as support our Community Canopy Program. Thank you for contributing to a greener, healthier Pueblo - now and for future generations!
TREES PLEASE is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 to promote the preservation and planting of street and park trees in Pueblo, Colorado. Our goal is to consolidate the efforts of residents, the City, businesses and environmental groups to restore and maintain our urban forest. We aim to promote personal involvement, community action, and global climate awareness through the planting of trees in this community.
TREES PLEASE recognizes the critical role that trees play in our community. Trees can reduce the urban heat island effect by reducing summer air temperatures, lowering the risk of heat-related illness and reducing energy costs as cooling systems have to work less. Likewise, trees can reduce heating costs in the winter by breaking the force of winter winds and reducing cold air infiltration into homes. Trees improve air quality by filtering air pollutants, and they mitigate flooding by reducing stormwater runoff. Ecologically, trees protect biodiversity by providing critical habitat for migrating birds and pollinators. Economically, trees increase neighborhood property values and attract homebuyers and businesses. Last but not least, trees have a powerful social impact by encouraging more outdoor activities, thereby promoting physical activity as well as reducing stress, anxiety and depression.
