Bridging the Breaks in Public Health Funding

For Giving Season 2025, I am asking for donations to support The Schreiber Research Group (TSRG). Only this year, the request for your support to sustain this work has become even more urgent.
Federal uncertainty and the government shutdown have created significant disruptions to public health funding. Grants that previously offered stable support are now more competitive than ever, with award rates dropping below five percent. Even the most impactful programs are struggling to keep moving forward.
This year, our goal is to partner with a rural school district to develop a strategic plan for drug prevention and mental health support for youth, work with the Denver Opioid Abatement Council (DOAC) on strategic planning, the Denver Public Schools on a Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant for justice involved students, and to launch a workforce center that helps people in recovery and those who have experienced homelessness gain the skills and stability they need to reenter the workforce.
TSRG is adapting our strategy, expanding our partnerships, and identifying gaps in services emerging from HR1 — the One Big Beautiful Bill — which will require individuals who rely on public benefits to meet an 80 hour per month work requirement by January 2027. These changes will disproportionately impact people already facing the most barriers. They need support now more than ever.
Your contribution helps ensure that the important work of TSRG can continue as we navigate this new funding environment and so that people in recovery do not fall through the cracks. Every single donation provides real momentum in a time when momentum is difficult to sustain.
If you would like to celebrate with me, please consider a gift to support our work. TSRG and its Board of Directors will once again match dollar for dollar your contributions.
Thank you for standing with us during a year when it makes an enormous difference.
Sincerely,
Terri and the TSRG Board of Directors
The Schreiber Research Group (TSRG) is a team of experts whose mission is to improve substance-use-related outcomes through community outreach, consulting services, and research.
TSRG, founded in 2018, consists of experts in policy, healthcare, data science, economics, and project management. TSRG is known for in-depth and rigorous work that applies research findings to on-the-ground collaborations with public health departments and communities to find solutions to this epidemic.
TSRG has seen considerable growth since 2018 and hopes the Colorado Gives donor community will support our progress. Since 2020, TSRG has sponsored 13 student interns and 3 Mandela Washington Fellows. We hope that you will support us so we may continue our internship program and sponsorship of a Mandela Washington Fellowship in 2025.
