Who Are We?

The Fax Partnership (The Fax) is a long-standing 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to support and strengthen residents and businesses along the East Colfax Corridor while advocating for equitable development.

What Do We Do?

To help residents and businesses fight involuntary displacement, The Fax provides support services and works for responsible growth that prioritizes affordable and attainable housing, community-serving redevelopment, and capacity building so those that make up East Colfax can remain in the community they love. In 2024, we had over 1,500 households visit our Residential Support Office to utilize our food and diaper pantries, and provided navigation assistance for government programs and other available resources.

Last year our Business Support Office provided tailored 1:1 assistance to 48 small businesses, including marketing and application assistance for grants, loans, and permits and licensing. The Fax also works with the community-led steering committee of the East Colfax Cultural District, an initiative spanning the East Colfax corridor from Monaco to Yosemite Streets that works to support small businesses, engage residents, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the corridor and surrounding neighborhoods through community events and initiatives.

Our Equitable Development Office works to identify parcels for affordable housing redevelopment as well as opportunities to partner with local businesses, developers, and institutions to ensure development keeps Colfax affordable, vibrant, and a central artery of Denver. In 2022, The Fax acquired two contiguous motels that have been converted to shelters, hosting a major City initiative called Roads to Recovery, and will subsequently be redeveloped into affordable housing in the near future.

Why Does It Matter?

The East Colfax Corridor is one of the most diverse in the Denver metro area while also one of the most vulnerable to displacement. The corridor is one of Denver metro’s most inequitable areas with about a third of families living below the poverty line and over half of renters housing cost-burdened, according to 2023 data from the Colorado Futures Center. The rising cost of housing and commercial real estate already threatens many residents and businesses with displacement, increasing the urgency of The Fax’s work. This pressure has only increased with the ongoing construction of the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit project progressing eastward, and the increasing private investment in the area.
