Mission

Teach For America Colorado finds, develops, and supports a diverse network of leaders who expand opportunity for children from classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader systems in which schools operate.

Background Statement

TFA Colorado works to build a sustainable pipeline of homegrown, opportunity-focused teachers who are trained to lead their classrooms with a student-centered approach. TFA Colorado was formed in 2007 to address talent shortages of both teachers and school leaders in districts serving majority students of color and families from low-income backgrounds. Between 2007-2013, the organization expanded from Denver to Colorado Springs and then to Pueblo, placing more than 1,300 new, highly-trained teachers to date in many of the state’s highest-need schools.

Today, more than 2,000 TFA alumni live and work in Colorado, and TFA supports a robust, high-impact local network of teachers and leaders who expand access to high-quality education and meaningful postsecondary pathways for more than 36,000 Colorado students daily.
