The Museum for Black Girls is more than an art space—it’s a cultural sanctuary dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and amplifying the stories, creativity, and brilliance of Black women and girls. Founded in Denver and expanding nationwide, the museum was created to fill a void in representation and provide an immersive, affirming space where Black girls can see themselves reflected in powerful, beautiful, and multidimensional ways.

Our exhibitions and installations blend history, art, and storytelling to honor the legacies of Black women—past, present, and future. From vibrant photo-worthy experiences to educational storytelling walls, the museum is designed to spark joy, ignite conversation, and create deeper understanding of the vital role Black women play in shaping culture, art, wellness, innovation, and community.

The Museum for Black Girls is also a platform for emerging and established Black creatives, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. Through rotating exhibits, community programming, workshops, and events, we provide opportunities to showcase talent, foster dialogue, and build spaces that empower and inspire.

At its heart, the Museum for Black Girls is a love letter: to resilience, to creativity, to joy, and to the magic of Black girlhood. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning to see what’s new, our mission is simple—to remind Black girls everywhere that they are the exhibit, the inspiration, and the future.

Giving Activity

Mission

The Museum for Black Girls exists to celebrate and uplift Black women and girls by creating immersive, culturally affirming spaces that center our stories, amplify our artistry, and nurture joy, healing, and self-love.

Background Statement

Founded in 2019, the Museum for Black Girls was born out of a deep need for representation, celebration, and healing. What began as a traveling art installation quickly evolved into a nationally recognized cultural experience that reimagines how we honor Black womanhood.

The Museum provides immersive, interactive exhibitions that celebrate the stories, contributions, and brilliance of Black women and girls—through the lens of art, history, and unapologetic joy. With locations and pop-ups in cities such as Denver, Houston, and Washington D.C., the Museum for Black Girls has welcomed thousands of guests, becoming a safe, affirming space where identity is honored and legacy is preserved.

In addition to our exhibitions, we host community-centered programming including youth confidence retreats, wellness events, Black Business Month activations, artist showcases, and seasonal cultural celebrations. Through our 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm, Take Care Black Girl Foundation we extend our impact by offering free and low-cost access to teens, families, and schools.

At our core, we are a space of joy, restoration, and storytelling—because Black girls deserve to see themselves reflected in spaces of beauty, education, and power.
