impacts and optimizes positive ones.

Testimonials

"World population is projected to grow to between 10.5 and 11 billion by 2050 (World Summit on Sustainable Development, 2002). The world will eventually need to feed, house and support this increased population, putting enormous strains on land, water, energy and other natural resources. What SDSG does locally impacts the health of our entire planet." Carl Lewis, donor

Mission

SDSG is a collaborative group of experts whose mission is to demonstrate the effectiveness of sustainable development concepts in solving real, practical natural resource governance problems at local, regional, national, and global levels. We are a research, teaching, and capacity building organization as well as a practical source of law and policy advice.

Background Statement

Founded in 2007, Sustainable Development Strategies Group (SDSG) is an independent, non-profit research institution based in Colorado, USA that manages and implements projects worldwide. We focus on the contribution of natural resources to sustainable development by working with governments, industry, communities, international organizations, and other stakeholders to support improved governance, legal and policy reform, stable and equitable agreements, and relevant education and research. Our deepest area of experience is mining and minerals policy.

SDSG operates on the local, national, and international levels to develop collaborative policy and legal frameworks that address the enormous challenge of using natural resource endowments to reduce poverty while protecting human rights and safeguarding the integrity of ecosystems. Our officers, directors, and international network of collaborators and consultants aim to establish global benchmarks of performance, as well as develop and implement models that will move the process of natural resource development toward greater multi-stakeholder collaboration.
