Background Statement
Though we only began work in late 2022, Sustainable Grand has quickly grown into Grand County’s go-to resource for energy efficiency and clean energy action. In just two years, we’ve built programs, partnerships, and tools that make saving energy—and money—easier for both residents and businesses.
Key Accomplishments:
- Launched the Home & Business Energy Assessment Programs, providing affordable, high-impact energy assessments that help lower energy bills and identify practical efficiency upgrades.
- Initiated the Workforce Development Project to train, equip, and motivate local contractors to perform weatherization, insulation, and clean energy work—keeping energy dollars and jobs in Grand County.
- Created the Sustainable Grand Resource Center, the community’s Energy One-Stop Shop for rebates, incentives, and energy education.
- Added powerful tools and resources including a Rebate Calculator, Contractor List, and Free Energy Coaching, helping residents and businesses find funding and guidance in one place.
- Developed an online Education Center featuring articles, how-to guides, and resources that empower people to take action on their own.
- Hosted local workshops and community events, including energy-saving education sessions and weatherization demonstrations across Grand County.
- Collaborated with Xcel Energy, Mountain Parks Electric, and Grand County municipalities to develop a Community Energy Action Plan focused on reducing overall county-wide energy use.
- Joined Energy Smart Colorado in 2024, gaining access to additional funding, resources, and statewide collaboration.
- Created the free Thermal Camera Loan Program, giving homeowners an easy way to identify where their homes are losing heat and wasting energy.
- Supported over $100,000 in income-qualified energy upgrades through partnerships with Energy Outreach Colorado and Mountain Parks Electric, including projects in neighboring Jackson County.
- Distributed over $100,000 in incentives for East Troublesome Fire rebuilding residents who chose high-efficiency options—helping them rebuild stronger and more resilient homes.
From local business assessments to hands-on workshops, Sustainable Grand continues to connect Grand County residents with the resources, funding, and expertise needed to build a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly future.
