PTSA's main roles is to raise money to supplement and enhance our children's learning opportunities. What sets Steck apart from other public elementary schools is our ability to fund full-time teacher assistants, support many programs including teacher & classroom special projects.

Mission

As a community, we work to ensure every student achieves academic, social and emotional growth. Our mission is to continuously improve our school through creating and strengthening the community of parents, teachers and students. We are dedicated to fostering a strong learning environment for our students.

Background Statement

Our school is proudly named after Amos Steck, who was born in Pennsylvania on January 8, 1822, wherein, he became a lawyer and practiced law before the State of Pennsylvania's Supreme court, from 1843-1849. In 1849 he joined the California gold rush. Later he went to Colorado and joined the "Pikes's Peak or Bust" gold rush. Afterwards, he settled in Denver. He was President of Denver District 1 Board of Education from 1862-1866 and was the second mayor of Denver, from 1863-1864, and also was a founder of Denver University.
