Together We Turf Campaign (Lockhart Fields)

Steamboat Soccer Club is proud to announce the Lockhart Fields at Heritage Park, a lasting home for our players and the Yampa Valley community. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Ty and Betty Lockhart, the Club has secured land just west of Steamboat to develop a premier community sports facility that will serve as the heart of recreation in our region.

This visionary project will feature:

  • Two full-sized artificial turf fields designed for soccer and adaptable for other field sports.
  • Snow removal capability for extended-season play from late February through November.
  • Lighting systems to enable safe evening games and community events.
  • Site improvements & amenities, including improved parking, walkways, team benches, spectator seating, and storage facilities.

Community Benefits:

  • Youth Development: Thousands of children and teens gain more access to safe, reliable play.
  • Community Growth: Expanded field capacity relieves the strain on existing facilities.
  • Tourism Impact: Extended-season fields open opportunities for hosting regional tournaments and camps, drawing families and visitors to Steamboat.
  • Shared Resource: Facilities will serve not only soccer but also other field sports and community users.

Beyond sports, the facility will become a community gathering place - supporting families, hosting local events, and strengthening the fabric of the Yampa Valley for generations to come.

Making the Dream a Reality

SSC is launching a transformative effort to bring Lockhart Fields to life. The total project cost is estimated at $5 million, encompassing two artificial turf fields, lighting, snow removal for extended-season play, improved parking and walkways, seating, and other field amenities. This investment will establish a premier, extended-season facility that meets the needs of more than 1,500 players and supports thousands more in our community — from youth and adult leagues to visiting teams and local recreation programs. We are actively pursuing philanthropic partnerships, grant funding, and community contributions to make this vision a reality. Every dollar raised brings us closer to ensuring that Steamboat families and athletes have a safe, reliable, and permanent place to play. Please join us in supporting this once-in-a-generation project by contributing to the Together We Turf capital campaign.

Our Community Is Stepping Up

The Together We Turf campaign is already off to a strong start. With $1.25 million raised, we’re 25% of the way toward our goal of $5 million. Every gift, large or small, helps build a lasting legacy for the Yampa Valley and ensures every player has a place to play.

Your gift — financial or in-kind — is an investment in youth development, community health, and the enduring spirit of the Yampa Valley.

A $250+ gift to the Heritage Complex Campaign qualifies for the Colorado Enterprise Zone Tax Credit. Donors may claim 25% of cash gifts or 12.5% of in-kind gifts as a state income tax credit (up to $100,000 per year), making your impact even greater while building two new turf fields.
