Background Statement
At Habitat for Humanity, we believe everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home.
A home is more than shelter—it’s the foundation for strength, stability, and independence. By partnering with families to build affordable homes, we help eliminate barriers that prevent them from living healthier, more financially secure lives. Every house built is a stepping stone toward a stronger future, and every volunteer and donor plays a vital role in making that possible.
Since 1988, Habitat for Humanity of the St. Vrain Valley has been offering “a hand up, not a handout.” Families are chosen based on need, their willingness to partner, and their ability to repay an affordable mortgage. Each homeowner contributes up to 500 hours of sweat equity, completes homeownership education, and pays back their home cost through affordable monthly payments—investments that cycle back to build even more homes in our community.
Our mission extends beyond our local neighborhoods. Through our tithe program, St. Vrain Habitat also supports homebuilding efforts around the world, currently partnering with Habitat affiliates in Nepal, Jordan, Lesotho, and Bolivia.
