SOIL Sangre de Cristo: Invest in Local Food. Strengthen Regional Food Security and Resiliency!

SOIL (Slow Opportunities for Investing locally) Sangre de Cristo is a membership-based community loan fund that awards 0% interest loans to local farmers, ranchers, and food producers. By pooling charitable contributions from our community and members, we are building a permanent, member-driven, revolving loan fund to strengthen our local food economy.

How It Works

Community members join SOIL Sangre de Cristo through a tax-deductible contribution of any amount.

• Contributions grow our 0% interest loan pool for local food producers.

• Members who contribute $250 or more become Investor Members and vote on loan applications.

• When loans are repaid, funds return to the pool to finance new local food projects, keeping money circulating in our community.

Over time, SOIL Sangre de Cristo will continue to grow into a sustainable, community-powered lending resource for local agriculture and food entrepreneurs.

Our Impact

Since launching in 2020, we’ve awarded over $180,000 in 0% interest loans to 14 local farmers, ranchers, and food businesses—helping them expand operations, improve sustainability, and increase local food access across the region.
