Snow Lion is a contemplative school for young children, ages 16 months – 6 years old. Contemplative education is experiential and evolves through play and connection rather than imposed rules and agendas. Our highest educational value is self discovery play! Along with discovering who we are in relation to ourselves and others, at Snow Lion Preschool we nurture the process of self-discovery and loving kindness towards oneself and others. Just like the children and families in our community, our school overflows with joy, compassion, generosity, and self-reflection.

The mission of Snow Lion Preschool is to engage in activities that serve, guide and support families in their children’s first preschool experiences. We encourage children’s growth and development through play. It's our goal to:

*Identify and accept the full range of children’s emotions;
*Guide and foster social interactions between mixed ages;
*Understand and connect with each child as a unique individual, respecting their own pace and style of learning and experiencing the world.
Snow Lion began in the autumn of 1995 as a small playgroup of three children. It quickly evolved, and after 27 years under the leadership and vision of Kristin Lhatso, Rachel Flax Kaplan took over to continue Kristin’s legacy in 2022. Snow Lion Preschool is a community of over fifty children with hundreds of alumni children and their families.
