Every year in Colorado, tens of thousands of winter clothing items left behind at ski resorts and hotels are discarded into local landfills—while thousands of unhoused and vulnerable Coloradans face freezing temperatures without proper gear.
Slopes to Hope addresses these human services and environmental problems with one circular solution.
Slopes to Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating out of Breckenridge, Colorado. Our mission is to reduce environmental waste and support Coloradans experiencing homelessness and hardship by diverting lost and abandoned winter clothing from local landfills and delivering it to those who need it most.
By partnering with local hotels and ski resorts, we collect unclaimed or lost clothing and distribute them directly to homeless shelters, schools, churches, and community organizations across Summit County, the Denver Metro Area, and Colorado Springs—fostering a more sustainable and compassionate Colorado.
Slopes to Hope began during the 2023–2024 ski season when founder Drew Roberts collected 3,052 pounds of unclaimed clothing from six Summit County hotels and resorts. Building on the success of this pilot effort, Slopes to Hope officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on April 3, 2025, with a mission to rescue usable winter clothing that would otherwise go to waste and ensure it reaches individuals and families in need across Colorado.
