Testimonials

"When I got saved, I was at the lowest point in my life... I had just gotten out of jail in CO Springs for a warrant in Steamboat Springs over a missed court date. I went up to Steamboat for court and found out I had to finish my community service before they'd let me off. I had done some community service at Sk8 Church when Buck ran it, so I called Sk8 Church to finish it.

While I was at Sk8 church Nate and Buck poured as much love into me as they could, the kind of love Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. They both let their actions speak louder than anything they could've said to me... Seeing how kind and accepting everyone was at Sk8 Church made me realize that accepting Jesus into my life definitely couldn't make my life any worse, and for the first time I felt hope for myself. If accepting Jesus into my heart made me anything like Nate or Buck, I wanted it. So while I was sitting in Nate's office talking to him, he walked me through the sinners prayer. After reciting it, I remember every negative feeling that I carried around on a daily basis, just being taken away. I was crying profusely and the more I cried the better I felt, it was almost as if the tears were holding every stressful thing I dealt with and it was being released like a flood gate.

God has shown me the beauty that came from the mess I had created. He has taken my mess of life and used it as a testimony to show what God can do in ones life if you pursue and allow Him to work freely... According to the world and society I should've been in a criminal or overdose statistic, and if I was lucky I'd have to be on suboxone or methadone to manage my "incurable disease" of addiction. God showed me that I don't have to accept the labels the world has put on me based on my past."

Mission

We are a safe and sober refuge that exists to reach the lost, broken and addicted with the love of Jesus, regardless of gender, background, race, or religious affiliation. We exist to see lives changed.

Background Statement

Since its establishment in 2005, Sk8 Church's mission has been to "see lives changed". Built around the desire to form a community for those disconnected from larger society, and reinforced by a common love of skateboarding, Sk8 Church now serves hundreds each year. While the organization itself is Christian, Sk8 Church has developed a number of non-religious programs in order to expand its inclusivity for youth from all walks of life. Among our offerings are free or low cost skate lessons, two free meals each week, and our After School Program.
