Background Statement

This organization was founded in February of 2019 in honor of Shane Thurston. He took his life at the young age of 13 in February of 2018. It was determined then by his mother and her family and friends that we wanted to do something. Suicide awareness and prevention felt unattainable to us, so we took a more systemic approach to mental health. This is how we determined our mission would be to promote positive mental health by providing access to educational programs. The thought is that if a child feels confident in what they are doing, they are more equipped to have coping skills during difficult times.
