Seniors4Wellness founder, Vince Ventimiglia, was the Evergreen Transportation Manager for Seniors Resource Center in the mountain community. When SRC closed the doors of the Yellow House in 2020, Vince founded what is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called Seniors4Wellness in response to a lack of any type of organization dedicated to older adults’ needs in the Evergreen area.
Seniors4Wellness was formed not just to support seniors in the mountain communities of Jefferson County during later stages of life but primarily to help them live well during those years, hence the name of our organization. In so doing, we knew that seniors needed access to regular mental, physical, spiritual and social stimulation and outlets. As our mission statement indicates, “Seniors4Wellness enriches the lives of seniors through programs and services that promote connection, vitality, and independence.”
We provide free, reliable and widely available transportation to the older adult population in the mountain communities of Jefferson County to get to their doctor appointments usually in Denver or the surrounding areas. Our outstanding volunteer drivers make this a reality. Medical appointments are the highest priority but we can also help people with errands. Often these requests involve someone who has received a medical diagnosis and will require regular trips down the hill to doctor appointments to which they can no longer drive themselves. People are incredibly grateful for this free service.
All of our events, programs, activities and services are free to the public, with donations accepted.
When Seniors4Wellness started its monthly Friday Cafe lunches in 2021, we normally had about 15-20 attendees. Now we routinely serve approximately 50-75 folks each month from Evergreen, Conifer, Bailey, and Indian Hills, and have an additional 25 volunteers assisting each month. These lunches are professionally catered and, in the past, a professional musician entertains. We also host an annual Thanksgiving luncheon which served nearly 200 people last year, and a holiday luncheon and craft day with gifts and cookie exchange for the seniors. We have children volunteer at our lunches along with many community volunteers from different organizations. At one time, we even had a therapy dog in attendance. Folks offering services of interest often speak briefly at our lunches which offers an educational aspect to a social gathering that is often very resourceful information for older adults.
Our Wellness Classes usually consist of speakers who present on a variety of topics such as computer problems, veteran’s issues, nutrition, mental health and many other topics. People have found these, not only educational, but a way to interact with others that gives them social networking opportunities.
We have an all-volunteer working Board (click here for the Board members and their bios) who put many hours into running this relatively new nonprofit organization. Referrals that we provide are normally local resources for needs such as in-home care, home repair, yard work, volunteer opportunities and much more. Older adults trust our organization and they know the Board, Janice and our volunteers. We are also referred by other organizations such as Mount Evans, Foothills Regional Housing, EPRD and so many more.
Our paid Program Administrator, Janice Kaup, locates many of our resources, networks with partners in the community for all things of interest to our seniors, fields and responds to phone calls and requests for help, sets up and attends our events, appears at fairs and festivals to let people know about Seniors4Wellness, and sends out at least weekly emails with reminders of all upcoming activities with Seniors4Wellness and in the community which has been a huge resource, that doesn’t exist anywhere else, to folks who would like to attend programs, activities and events that pertain to older adults.
We have been written up in the Canyon Courier local newspaper for our Thanksgiving luncheon and we were nominated in 2023 for the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce NonProfit of the Year. Recently, Canyon Courier has written several articles on our organization - one in Feb 2025 and one in July 2025. We were interviewed by Channel 7 news reporter, Colin Riley, about our collaboration with EPRD in creating a senior space at Buchanan Rec Center.
Seniors4Wellness partners with many in the community and could not function without their help and support. This includes long-time support from many collaborators and partners that are listed on our website as Friends of Seniors4Wellness.
