Because we are a nonprofit organization we rely strictly on grants, fundraisers, & donations from local organizations, churches, and our clients. We accomplish our mission through the kindness of our volunteer drivers, our Board of Directors, and our office staff. Our drivers include retired teachers, service members, single moms, truck drivers, technical editors, and others from all walks of life.
In 2018 our drivers clocked a total of 4,200 volunteer driving hours and served 235 clients. We averaged 131 trips a month, making new friends all the while. We pride ourselves by saying that of our 21+ volunteers 11 have been with us more than 5 years and of those 4 have been with us 10 or more years. This speaks to our level of commitment and the level of satisfaction that comes with volunteering.
We are a nonprofit organization that provides supportive Medical and Dental Transportation to residents of Fremont County who cannot drive themselves to medical appointments due to medical or financial reasons. Our goal is to ensure that our clients can remain independent and live in their homes for as long as possible by ensuring they meet their appointments.
Senior Services Solutions Plus began in 1984 under the name of Friendly Visitors. Three local churches collaborated in assisting the elderly with their needs and their ability to live independently in their own homes. A committee was formed and in 1986 they were joined by the Area Agency on Aging, West Central Mental Health, the Department of Social Services, St. Thomas More Hospital, physicians, and nursing homes. A board of directors was elected and in 1987 Friendly Visitors was incorporated as a nonprofit organization.
