Secular Hub

A nonprofit organization

The idea of a secular community may seem foreign. No single doctrine unites our members & partners, yet we share a lot in common. The Secular Hub exists to build, strengthen, & empower our diverse community to accomplish more together than we can alone. Please help us support this unique resource.

"The Secular Hub is a community center for secular folks :atheists, agnostics, freethinkers. It's the first of its kind in the nation, and there's nothing else like it around. It has a diversity of events, and a number of different local secular groups meet there. The Secular Hub is also a non-profit organization." -Jeanette

"Very open and welcoming spot, interesting selection of upcoming talks and presentations, plan on returning Saturday for the history of humankind. Pancake Sunday was terrific." -Richard

"The secular hub is a meeting place for a variety of organizations ranging from social to activism based. Several support groups for a variety of issues also meet here including national organizations such as atheist alcoholics anonymous and the survivors network of abuse by priests. It's only open when a group is meeting, so find out the schedule ahead of time before stopping by." -Hunter

"Been a member here for several years. Great group of friendly and accepting people. They have a great pancake breakfast on the first Sunday of the month. Lots of activities and meetups throughout the month including game nights, movie nights, guest speakers, and science talks." -Marty

To support and build up the secular community by providing a physical space and a broad range of activities that encourage learning, critical thinking, advocacy, altruism, and social connection.

Background Statement

Established in 2013 as a center for secular groups in the Denver Metro Area, the Secular Hub has since evolved into the largest, volunteer-run secular organization in Colorado. It is a friendly place where non-believers find camaraderie, learn, and give back to the community. Secular Hub members organize educational events, social activities, and volunteer opportunities.

Hub activities embody our values of community, altruism, reason, and education, including:

* Bringing in high-profile speakers such as Seth Andrews, Dan Barker, and Aron Ra

* Hosting local experts on topics such as evolutionary biology and Denver history

* Weekly Coffee and Community and monthly Pancake Breakfasts

* Hikes to places like Dinosaur Ridge and hosting get-togethers such as our annual picnic

* Weekly movie nights, monthly game nights, comedy nights, and music nights

* Community service such as street cleaning and food/clothing drives

* Support for the group Atheists Helping the Homeless by providing donation receptacles and helping with distribution

* Staffing outreach booths at community festivals and events

* Hosting Secular Scouts to provide a secular youth development program for our youngest members

The Hub also continues to build and unite the community of secular organizations across the front range through joint programming with partner groups and providing use of its space to them for events and meetings.

The Hub is governed by an elected board of seven members. Each board member is elected for a two-year term and can serve multiple terms if elected. The Hub is 100% volunteer run and various committees help plan and execute events, outreach, and service.
