San Juan Film Institute

A nonprofit organization

The San Juan Film Institute is a Colorado Non-Profit Organization that enriches the culture of Ouray County through two main cinema programs: the Ouray International Film Festival (OIFF) and the Ouray Film Sabbatical (OFS). Each year, OIFF brings filmmakers, critics, and scholars from around the world for four days of film screenings, panel discussions, and community engagement in Ouray, Colorado. In 2026, we will welcome the first cohort of the Ouray Film Sabbatical, a residency program for filmmakers, festival programmers, writers, and critics seeking to connect in the beauty of Ouray's San Juan Mountains. Our organization also develops a year-round partnership with Ouray School, including the "Ouray Student Film Festival" which we host each May. Through these offerings, our organization seeks to enrich the cultural life of Colorado's Western Slope while also nurturing a growing international community of filmmakers.
