Our mission is to provide resources and educational opportunities, in partnership with St. Vrain Valley Schools and our local communities, to enhance student success and teacher excellence. As a result, our goal is to supplement the traditional education experience in ways that maximize the effectiveness of teachers and result in enhanced student achievement in an increasingly complex and competitive worldwide environment. We achieve this mission through a portfolio of programs, including:

Student Success

  • Student Scholarships - The foundation oversees and manages scholarships in partnership with families, foundations, and business partners for SVVSD seniors who will be continuing their education at a trade/vocational school, a 2 year college or university, or a 4 year college or university.
  • Supplies for Success - This program ensures that all SVVSD students start the school year with the supplies they need for a successful and strong academic year.
  • 529 Jump - In partnership with the City of Longmont, all Kindergarten through 3rd grade students enrolled in a SVVSD school are eligible to receive a one-time $50 scholarship to jumpstart their post-secondary savings. The goal of the program is to encourage families to establish a 529 savings account to save for post-secondary education.
  • St. Vrain Supports Fund - In collaboration with SVVSD Student Services, the fund provides basic need items such as coats, shoes, toiletries, and food to ensure that SVVSD students, teachers, and families have the support they need during challenging or unfamiliar times.

Teacher Excellence

  • Teacher Innovation Grants - The foundation provides grants for innovative projects that enhance student learning in SVVSD in the following four categories: STEM, Special Education, Mental Health, and General. Grants fund technology, innovative learning tools, flexible seating for classrooms, science resources, and more.
  • Tribute to Teachers - This awards program provides the opportunity for the community to recognize and honor SVVSD teachers who exemplify excellence in teaching.
  • Eleanor Venture Travel Grant - In memory of the foundation’s founder, Eleanor Flanders, this grant provides a SVVSD teacher with an educational travel experience that will enhance the teacher’s classroom skills, expand curriculum options, and ultimately benefit future students.

Background Statement

St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 1985. Former school board member and local philanthropist Eleanor Flanders spearheaded its creation. Beginning in 1987 our Foundation has provided grants to educators within the St. Vrain Valley. Over the years, hundreds of grants have been awarded to classroom teachers to provide opportunities that students would not otherwise have had. Such grants not only provide learning opportunities for students, they renew teachers, give them another tool for teaching and provide them with reinforcement which says that their ideas are important. Since inception, the Foundation has made awards totaling approximately $4 million.
