Mission
STEMblazers inpspires girls to envision themselves in science, technology, engineering and math professions. Our long-term goal is reach 1 million girls in 20 years. We envision a world where women are equally represented in the STEM workforce.
Background Statement
STEMblazers is a 501(c)3 organization founded in February 2014 by mechanical engineer, Wendy Merchant. As a student and then employee in a technical field, Wendy realized her journey to success had been challenging due to lack of support and encouragement for females to pursue interests and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Surveys have found that biases are a major causative factor of this observation, and leads many females away from a STEM field or to leave STEM fields prematurely. The mission of STEMblazers is to empower high school and middle school girls to pursue STEM careers by providing networking and interactive career exploration activities with professional women in STEM industries.
