Help us continue our mission here in Colorado of ensuring the future of elk,other wildlife, their habitat and our hunting heritage. As of December 31st, 2023 we have enhanced 508,739 acres and we have a goal to reach 600,000 acres by the end of 2030. RMEF has opened up or secured public access to 119,612 acres.

Background Statement
Upwards of 10 million elk ranged from the Atlantic to the Pacific when the Mayflower landed inhabiting all of the Lower 48 except Florida and upper New England. By 1900, fewer than 100,000 remained in small, scattered bands. When the RMEF was founded in 1984, North America was home to 550,000 elk.
Still headquartered in Montana, the RMEF has grown into a national conservation leader. To date, we have protected and enhanced 6.7 million acres of America's most vital elk country. Within those 6.7 million acres, more than 852,628 acres of long off-limits land are now open for the public to hunt fish and simply enjoy. We have completed more than 9,816 conservation, education and hunting heritage projects across 49 states and eight provinces. Today, more than a million wild elk roam across 27 states.
