"Rocky Mountain Flycasters Trout Unlimited is a leader in coldwater conservation in Northern Colorado..."

Mission

Northern Colorado-based Rocky Mountain Flycasters Trout Unlimited (RMFTU), a chapter of Trout Unlimited, is a leader in coldwater fisheries conservation, with the mission to conserve, protect and restore trout fisheries and their watersheds. RMFTU fulfills this mission through work on the Big Thompson, Cache la Poudre and North Platte river watersheds in Northern Colorado.

Background Statement

Rocky Mountain Flycasters Trout Unlimited (RMFTU), established in 1983, was the tenth chapter in the nation authorized by Trout Unlimited (TU).

In 2023, TU bestowed upon RMFTU the highest national award for a TU chapter (the Gold Trout Award), the equivalent of "Chapter of the Year" in the United States.

TU is the nation's largest coldwater fisheries conservation organization, with the mission to conserve, protect and restore North America's trout fisheries and their watersheds.

RMFTU is an all-volunteer organization with more than 1,100 members who dedicate their time (approximately 6,000 volunteer hours annually) and energy to coldwater conservation in Northern Colorado to protect our rivers, lakes and fisheries for future generations.
