Background Statement

Founded in 1881, the American Red Cross is among the oldest human service organizations in the United States. In 1905, the U.S. Congress chartered the Red Cross to mitigate suffering caused by disasters. The American Red Cross of Colorado has been a vital part of the community since 1914. Our region serves all the residents of Colorado through five chapters located in Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Denver and Colorado Springs.
