Mission

Rocky Mountain SER empowers individuals and families to overcome social and economic challenges by providing access to education, workforce training, housing, and vital community resources. Through compassion, resilience, and innovation, we work to strengthen underserved communities across Colorado, fostering pathways to a more equitable and sustainable future.

Background Statement

Rocky Mountain SER (RMSER) was established over four decades ago to address the needs of Colorado's seasonal and migrant farmworker communities, providing them with essential educational and economic opportunities. Today, our work has expanded far beyond our origins, making us a driving force for equity, resilience, and empowerment across Colorado. Rooted in a deep understanding of social and economic challenges, RMSER serves individuals and families through a comprehensive range of programs that address the complex needs of underserved communities.

RMSER's holistic approach centers on our network of Empowerment Centers, located in Pueblo, Denver, Alamosa, and San Luis, which are designed to be accessible hubs for support and growth. Our centers provide early childhood education to give young learners a strong foundation, youth and adult workforce development to open pathways to stable careers, and affordable housing to offer safe and dignified living spaces. We work with community partners to ensure that these centers are also equipped as Resilience Hubs, which focus on community wellness, emergency preparedness, and environmental sustainability.

A vital part of our mission is food justice. We lead innovative programs to tackle food insecurity, promote healthy eating, and foster sustainable food systems through community gardens, food pantries, and greenhouses. These initiatives not only nourish families but also empower them with knowledge on food cultivation, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship.

Our services don’t stop there. RMSER’s comprehensive support includes housing assistance, career coaching, job placement services, and advocacy for policy changes that impact our communities. In recent years, we’ve expanded our affordable housing initiatives and are developing mixed-use campuses, like the Spann Redevelopment, to provide a holistic ecosystem where people can live, work, and thrive.

As RMSER grows, so does our dedication to community-driven solutions that resonate with the cultural and economic fabric of each community we serve. Our programs are built in partnership with the community, ensuring they are both relevant and impactful. We collaborate with local organizations, schools, government agencies, and the private sector to amplify our reach and achieve sustainable change.

At RMSER, we are driven by a vision of a future where all Coloradans have equal access to the resources they need to succeed. With the ongoing support of our community and donors, RMSER is committed to building resilient communities, empowering families, and transforming lives for generations to come.
