Testimonials

It is difficult for people with an intellectual disability to find work in the community. "Stan", a PDI individual, lives with challenges stemming from this diagnosis. The PDI team worked with Stan to engage productively. Stan and his team have diligently worked together and he is now making significant progress in Supported Employment. Stan sees the value of his work with a paycheck of his own and new focus on a positive future. Stan and his team are very proud of his progress and are able to look forward to a day when Stan has a job of his own in the communitymuinity.

Mission

To create pathways of opportunity where people with diverse abilities thrive through informed choices, meaningful education and employment, premier residential services, and dynamic social experiences.

Background Statement

In the 1960's loving parents and committed community members envisioned a better way to support those with disabilities and formed Pueblo Diversified Industries. During the 1970's PDI acquired the current main campus at 2828 Granada Blvd. on Pueblo's south side. PDI received the first accreditation from CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) as well as Federal Javits-Wagner-O'Day Act (JWOD) certification. As time moved on, PDI continued to grow by expanding and building facilities at the main campus, incorporating new programs, and beginning offering residential support services. Changes were made to facilities and program structures ensuring that all services that were offered provided opportunity for quality life experiences. Today PDI serves 220 individuals with significant disabilities annually. Staffed with just over 100 employees, our services are filled with compassionate and driven people working each day to guarantee pathways of opportunity are always open.
