Testimonials

My name is Juanita Munoz. I am a 26 year-old single parent of two beautiful girls. I would like to thank PCC Foundation for the opportunity to further my education. Because of the support of the Foundation and its student scholar program, my girls and I now have the opportunity for a bright future! In 2011, I decided to go back to school and pursue a career. This was a tough decision for me and my family. Financially, we would have to tighten our belts. Emotionally, I would be missing out on time with my young daughters. My decision took much soul searching. I had to determine what would be best for me and my family and ultimately I felt that I needed to demonstrate the importance of higher education to my daughters showing them that working toward a goal would provide positive outcomes for our family.
Last year I was accepted into the Psychiatric Technician program at Pueblo Community College. At that time, I was also chosen as a recipient of a PCC Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship helped in defraying the costs of purchasing text books and classroom supplies. I am pleased to announce that I am now a graduate of the Psych Tech program at PCC and - thanks to the amazing support that I received from the PCC faculty and staff - I have recently been hired by the Colorado Mental Health Institute.
PCC and the Foundation played a major role in my success and I thank them for their support. I am hopeful that my story will prove to demonstrate the need for continued support of this amazing organization. Your financial investment truly makes a difference in the lives of so many within our community.
With Gratitude,
Juanita Munoz, 2013/14 Pueblo Community College Foundation Scholar

I want to express my gratitude for the acceptance of my LeVert Hoag Helping Hands application. My husband is the only one who works as I am a full time student to support our five children. Being able to pay our rent is one less thing we now have to worry about and I cannot even begin to express how thankful I am for that. Now more of my focus can be directed towards continuing my education and making a better life for my children and out family.
This gesture means the world to me and I cannot begin to thank you enough. My husband, children and I are so grateful for the wonderful news you have give us by being accepted for this grant award. Thank you for the bottom of my heart!

Dear Pueblo Community College Foundation.
Thank you for taking the time to review and consider my LeVert Hoag Helping Hands grant application. I am a single mother of two and I have been going through some tough times.

As a hardworking person, I know that by finishing my degree at PCC I am building a positive future for me and my children. Thanks to this support I can now focus on my education vs. having to work more hours to pay this bill.

I know that staying in school is the right thing to do. It is also helping me set an example for my children so that they see that hard work pays off.

Thank you so much for this grant and for all that you do for the PCC students!

Dear PCC Foundation:
Thank you so much for paying for the repair bill for my car. I was not expecting an $800 car repair within my budget. I will now have a vehicle that is mechanically sound and reliable to get me to and from school. I am now capable of attending classes and will continue to push toward receiving straight A's.

I graduate on May 8 and now I will be able to attend graduation in my own car.

Your Foundation does amazing things for college students. You give us hope during trying times. This is the push that we need to survive! Hope goes a long way. I thank you for the hope that you have instilled in me!

Thank You,
Mary Elana Burnett

Dear PCC Foundation:
Thank you to everyone who was involved in making the decision to assist with my financial need. These funds will help me out tremendously in so many ways. Since I was a child I have been the type of person to do everything on my own. I have always found a way to fix my own problems. I would wiggle my way through a tough situation and make it out. Beat up, scratched or bruised, I would pull through. But, I have come to a place in my life where I have had to raise the white flag and tell myself that it is OKAY to ask for help.

I am living my life for myself and my son and have had to put my pride aside to ask for help. I want the best for my son and I want him to see that there is more to life than to live a life of despair...
