Project Warm-Up of Northern Colorado raises funds and collects materials to make hand-tied fleece blankets and other items for distribution to children throughout the year. We serve approximately 200-1400 children each year.

We distribute blankets, hats, pajamas, socks, teddy bears and other items to children through foster care agencies, Boys and Girls Clubs, school districts and community outreach centers in Weld, Adams, Boulder, Denver and Larimer counties. Our donors (and blanket-makers) include families, friends, girl-scout and boy-scout groups, athletic teams, student councils, National Honor Societies and Junior National Honor Societies, church and community groups, businesses and even Assisted Living Facilities.

Project Warm-Up of Northern Colorado began in 2017 as a grassroots effort to provide hand-tied blankets to children in foster care in the Northern Colorado area. During that first year, our community came together to make 296 blankets during a one-day event. Those blankets were put into the hands of children within the foster care system during their Holiday parties in several counties in Northern Colorado.

Each year after that, we continued to hold a one-day event (it was held virtually for 2 years during COVID) and each year, our blanket count has grown, along with our reach.  We quickly learned that many people want to show children that they are loved, and a blanket of their own is a cherished gift. In 2024, we far surpassed our goal of 1000 blankets with a final count of 1450 hand-tied blankets. Since our start in 2017, we’ve distributed over 5400 blankets to children in need in Northern Colorado.

We have recently learned that we have hundreds more children in our community who would benefit from our services. The need is great. Many individuals have already selflessly volunteered their money, time and skills to help this organization to fulfil its mission. Your donation will help us to expand both our reach and our base to warm the hearts, hands and souls of children in need.
