Project: Distributing Dignity has a goal for 2023-2024 of raising $10,000 to bring in period dispensers to all of our 19 schools on the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations, the Southern Ute Tribe, and Native American shelters in Denver, and supply them with pads for the remainder of the school year.
Pad dispensers are a much more a cost-effective method of getting period supplies up to the Reservation. Particularly during winter months, the cost of bringing products to the Reservation by truck can cost upwards to $300 per month. Pads sent directly to the schools is a cost-effective method to keep transportation costs down.
Pad dispensers have the added benefit of not adding an extra burden to the school nurses/administrators. Nurses do not need to be present in the nurse’s office to hand-out supplies, as it currently happens. As a result, students can get their supplies discreetly in bathrooms, and of course, at no cost to them.
Project Distributing Dignity is dedicated to reducing our environmental impact by going to this new distribution model. We choose to utilize sustainable quality period products, using companies that are 100% organic cotton.
