Positive Athlete provides recognition, scholarships and development for high character high school student-athletes through a program that is free to both nominees and nominators. We spotlight those kids who embody the character traits that make our communities stronger- volunteering their time, overcoming obstacles and demonstrating the kind of leadership that gives us hope for the future. This is all done from the lens of helping prepare athletes for life/careers, also creating a platform through which corporations can promote their career tracks and ultimately hire these athletes given all of their desirable transferable skills.
Any high school student-athlete, male or female, in grades 9-12 and in any sport, team or individual, school sanctioned or club, can be nominated for Positive Athlete. This is a free and easy process that takes as little as five minutes.

To encourage young people to find their own value outside of their athletic ability to positively impact and change the culture of the world around them
Background Statement
Positive Athlete is a high school student-athlete recognition and development program that expanded nationwide in January of 2025, after a decade plus of success in Georgia and Western Pennsylvania. In 2025, Positive Athlete reached more than 5,000 high schools across all 50 states while receiving more than 15,000 nominations (approximately 25% of all high schools). In Colorado, Positive Athlete saw nominations from 242 different high schools (65% of the schools with formalized athletic programs) including all 27 state sanctioned sports (as well as many others). In 2026 more than $150,000 in nomination-based scholarship dollars will be given out nationally to high character student athletes across the country with funds allocated to ensure geographic diversity. This will include a minimum of 7 scholarships dedicated to Colorado totaling $13,000 along with awards for more than 30 student-athletes and others (coaches, athletic director, athletic trainer). More so than other scholarship programs Positive Athlete has a unique, broader focus on encouraging young people to find their own value outside of their athletic ability to positively impact the world around them, with access to leadership development and future career connections for all nominees not just scholarship winners.
