Testimonials
The libraries are a focal point and meeting place in our county. My reason for joining the Elbert County Libraries Foundation is to raise awareness, support the growth, and provide materials that promote educational and cultural opportunities in our communities.

Elbert County Libraries Foundation
The Pines and Plains Libraries serve a large, diverse, and sparsely populated county by providing consistent onsite activities and resources for children and adults, including book clubs, after school activities, preschool story times, and summer programs that keep kids learning and engaged between the school sessions. Our libraries also offer online resources and much needed meeting spaces for community members and organizations of all types. In addition, the District is actively involved in annual community events, such as ElizaBash, the early summer street fair associated with the Elizabeth Stampede and the Harvest Festival, which celebrates Halloween and the end of the growing season.
The Pines & Plains Libraries Foundation, which raises funds for the district, supports the library's goals by encouraging public participation through organizing various community based activities, such as an annual electronic recycling event, and a penny drive that engage elementary school students with their libraries. The Foundation continues to develop new programs and services that we plan to roll out over the next couple years, which we hope will become annual events that the community looks forward to.

I have found my work with the Libraries Foundation to be very rewarding. It has given me the opportunity to make a difference in our community. The library provides numerous resources to our county, which is large, and in which the population centers are spread out. For instance, in the town of Elbert, the county library and the public school created a joint venture to fulfill the needs of the community. It is the work of the foundation to help facilitate, raise awareness and support these endeavors to serve our communities.
