$30,000 Goal

We believe single parents are some of the world's most courageous people!

PEARL Promise is a faith-based organization providing single-parent families the hope and skills necessary to build an economically and emotionally stable home environment through sustainable programs.

PEARL was established in 2008 to help single parents and their dependent children move toward self-sufficiency by providing a variety of programs, including mentoring and encouragement, educational opportunities and scholarships, and a transportation program. PEARL believes that in order to be effective, services must be tailoring to meet the needs of each individual single parent family.

The difference you make...

"I am blessed to have been matched up with such a great Mentor Family. They have been fantastic and have encouraged me to look at myself and set goals and dreams, for my children AND for myself, as well. Not only have I accomplished so many things, thanks to The Pearl Group's Focus Pearl program, but now have a lifetime friendship established with my Mentor Family." Michelle White, program graduate.

"The Pearl Group has vowed their support, as I complete my education and work toward self-sufficiency. I have recently been accepted into the Focus Pearl program, which has begun to provide weekly mentoring and assistance in making sure our needs are being met. I will never be able to thank these people enough for what they have done to change my life but I will continually pay it forward. I have been overwhelmed by their care and concern shown and see that they take personal interest in those with whom they are working. I have now completed my GED and am currently attending college. Through my own determination and all the help I have received, I am in the process of creating a life for my son and me that is secure, safe and full of love and hope. I am so grateful to all the people who have supported me, loved me, shown me there is hope and continue to be God's hand in my life. With their help, I have learned there is nothing impossible with God! Nothing! And secure in that profound truth, I have found my smile again!" Crystal Alatalo, program participant.

Rachel Harris describes how "PEARL has helped me so much, with my car, ensuring I have a safe and reliable vehicle to get my daughter and myself around. They have fulfilled so many needs but the one that sticks out the most is Christ-like love and support. The support I get from my mentor, and other beautiful women, has gotten me through the darkest time of my life. Their constant encouragement and uplifting words continue to motivate my walk with Christ, show me that God does have a plan for me and it is better than anything I could every foster on my own."

Mission

PEARL Promise is a faith-based organization providing single-parent families the hope and skills necessary to build an economically and emotionally stable home environment through sustainable programs.

Background Statement

Founded in 2008, The Pearl Group was established to help single parent families in the St. Vrain Valley School District, move toward self-sufficiency by providing a variety of sustainable programs, including mentoring and encouragement, educational opportunities and scholarships, Obtaining its 501(c)3 status and bringing on its first Executive Director in 2012, The Pearl Group has been diligently working to ensure the community's single parent population is provided the support and resources necessary for success. PEARL has proudly helped hundreds of single parents with car donations, car maintenance, car donations, rental assistance, ongoing assistance for families with food insecurities, mentoring, and more.

Statistics show that children coming from single parent homes have the odds stacked against them. They are twice as likely to be incarcerated, almost 2/3 of all youth suicides and nearly 3/4 of all high school drop-outs come from single parent homes. Additionally, indicators show that high achieving children are half as likely to come from a single parent home versus a two parent home.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, Boulder County has become the second fastest growing rate of childhood poverty, in the nation. And while 80% of single parents are gainfully employed, between 22% and 24% of children in poverty, in Boulder County, live in single parent families.

We provide single parent families the access to a substantially higher number of resources to accommodate the increased need for individualized funding flexibility. With dedicated volunteers, staff and targeted training specific to the success of single parents and their children, the difference we make is well documented.

We ask for your support this year with the organization's direct efforts, aimed at impacting and TRANSFORMING the lives of single parent families in Boulder County and the St. Vrain Valley School District!
