Background Statement

Founded in 1972 as The Evergreen Chorale, Ovation West Performing Arts is a vibrant performing arts organization and a cultural cornerstone of the Evergreen Foothills community. OWPA includes a multi-generational community choir (The Evergreen Chorale), award-winning musical theatre productions (Ovation West Theatre Company), and a 100-year old historic theater venue (Center Stage). We are dedicated to making excellent performing arts and arts education accessible to all.

OWPA's new "Arts In Schools" program brings supplementary arts education programming into local schools where budget cuts have have diminished choir and drama programs. We currently serve King Murphy Elementary, Evergreen Middle School, and Evergreen High School, with plans to expand to other area schools in 2026.

Ovation West Performing Arts works to promote the arts as a positive economic force in our community through active participation in the The Evergreen Creative District, Evergreen Chamber of Commerce, the Colorado Theatre Guild, The Evergreen Downtown Business Association, and more.

Ovation West owns and operates Center Stage, lovingly known by many as "the heart of performing arts in Evergreen." To date, we have invested over $2 million in the acquisition of and upgrades to the property, transforming it from a rustic summer pavilion into a uniquely charming venue that serves a vital role in connecting our community. Center Stage serves as a home for numerous other arts organizations. The Evergreen Players, Evergreen Children's Chorale, Mountain Youth Musicals, Evergreen Conservatory of Music, Evergreen Jazz Festival, MountainFilm, Resilience 1220, and the Evergreen Creative District are among the many valued partner organizations who utilize Center Stage throughout the year for rehearsals, performances, film showings, camps, galas, conferences, meetings, and other events.
