The Ouray Public Library is seeking support specifically for the design and construction of a new multipurpose community space as part of the Ouray Library’s expansion project. Despite having the lowest mill levy in the state (1.5 mill), the Ouray Library District has never incurred debt, has always operated on a cash basis and within budget, and has provided an exceptional level of service to the community, using taxpayer funds efficiently and transparently. With an annual budget of just $215,000, which covers payroll, operations, purchasing, programs, space needs, and outreach, the Ouray Library has consistently demonstrated its financial prudence and has been a trustworthy steward of public funds.
