Mission

Orgyen Khandroling Meditation Center aims to make accessible the traditional study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism. A warm and dedicated community follows the authentic lineage of Longchen Nyingthig and relies on profound teachings, in a place where all the auspicious circumstances have come together to provide a home for dharma to flourish. We are committed to furthering authentic dharma practice and study in the West.

Background Statement

Orgyen Khandroling was officially started in 2004 after Allison Choying Zangmo brought Anyen Rinpoche from the Himalayas to spread the dharma to Colorado. They began with a very small group of students, and have tirelessly dedicated themselves to building what is now a strong and committed community of serious practitioners. We purchased our temple building in 2011 and have since been polishing the jewel of our Denver base. Orgyen Khandroling Meditation Center, true to the origin of its name, has become a place where all the auspicious circumstances have come together to provide a home for dharma to flourish.

Anyen Rinpoche is a heart son of Tsara Dharmakirti Rinpoche, and fifth in a lineage of heart sons who received an uncommonly short, unbroken lineage of the Longchen Nyingthig and the Dzogchen teachings directly from the renowned siddha Patrul Rinpoche. Anyen Rinpoche has been intensively and traditionally training Allison Choying Zangmo, his spiritual partner and translator, for over twenty years, and she is now offering insightful and pointed teachings alongside Rinpoche. They travel all over North America to teach together throughout the year and have written many dharma books together.

Orgyen Khandroling is also the umbrella organization for two special projects to which our community is deeply committed: Phowa Foundation and Tibetan Literacy Fund.

The Phowa Foundation supports Anyen Rinpoche's vision of helping sentient beings around the world who are ill or dying or who wish to prepare for death in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Phowa (Tib. "transference of consciousness") is a Tibetan Buddhist practice, which helps the dying to leave this life behind without attachment or regret and find a positive rebirth. The practice of Phowa can benefit all beings, Buddhist or non-Buddhist, including animals.

The Tibetan Literacy Fund sponsors children's' education in rural Tibet-- to donate to this project, please donate through the Campaign/ Fundraiser Page "Tibetan Literacy Project" below. Thank you!
