OneGoat Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing Colorado’s first responders with financial assistance when they need it most. We work to remove financial worry and stress during times of crisis so our everyday heroes can focus on healing. Our organizational goal is to “always say yes” - we work tirelessly to bring not only financial assistance, but also the comforting assurance that we will be here for our heroes whenever they need us, just as they are for all of us. Our work aims to carry on the legacy of Deputy Chief Jon Adams, who established a foundation for South Metro to ensure a response for families of fallen or injured first responders, inspiring us to build and expand on his vision. OneGoat began as a “Life is for Living” golf event every St. Patty’s day, and has since grown into a year-round supportive organization.
In 2021, we held our inaugural event, the OneGoat Colorado First Responders of the Year Celebration, raising nearly $200,000 in August. Following the Marshall Fire in Boulder and Superior, we provided crucial financial support to first responders who had lost their homes, marking a turning point in our awareness among first responder communities. Throughout the year, more requests for assistance came in, leading to partnerships with like-minded organizations, expanding our network and reach. As we continue to build this ecosystem and increase awareness, our mission remains clear: to ensure that all first responders know "We Are Here" to support them.
Our name comes from the popular sports acronym, “GOAT”. This stands for “the greatest of all time.” We don’t tend to get caught up in the debate over who the NFL’s GOAT is, or if Jordan or LeBron win the GOAT title in the NBA. We know that the true greatest of all time are our nation’s first responders. They protect our communities, run into danger, save lives, and selflessly serve. So if you ask us who the greatest of all time are, we’ll answer first responders. Every single ONE of them.
OneGoat’s mission is to financially support our nation’s first responders. In particular, we provide physical and mental health assistance, funding for funeral services, and support attending rehab. Beyond bridging the financial gaps that too many first responders face, we also work to fill informational gaps. This part of our mission takes the shape of connecting first responders to already-available mental, physical, and therapeutic resources through our partner ecosystem. We also fill the informational gaps in the civilian population, by educating them about the needs first responders face, and the intersecting barriers that often keep these needs unmet.
