Background Statement
Ocean First Institute (OFI) provides free, hands-on marine science education to K-12 students across Colorado through classroom visits and virtual presentations. OFI's programs eliminate financial barriers and inspire diverse students in both English and Spanish.
Your donation will directly support the expansion of our educational programs, helping OFI reach more students and communities across Colorado. From learning about marine ecosystems to engaging in conservation efforts, OFI provides students with real-world science experiences that foster environmental stewardship.
One of our additional programs, the Microplastics Pollution Solution Project, is funded by SCFD and engages students in monitoring microplastics in Colorado’s waterways. This project is an excellent example of the impactful, hands-on learning we offer.
Donations for Colorado Gives Day will support initiatives like the Northern Leopard Frog conservation project in collaboration with the St. Vrain Valley Schools' Innovation Center. This project allows students to help rear and release Northern Leopard Frogs, contributing to local species conservation.
With your help, Ocean First Institute can continue offering these vital programs free of charge, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality, life-changing marine science education.
