Who We Are

Nova Spark is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. It was established by native Ukrainians, Yulia Boozer and Olga Funk, who were deeply moved by the suffering of children who lost their parents and the challenges faced by orphaned children during the onset of the war in Ukraine.

Our core belief is that every child deserves a fulfilling childhood, characterized by safety, growth, and access to quality education.

Why We Exist

The war in Ukraine has created a dire situation for orphans and other vulnerable children across the country. Disrupted education due to the conflict has deprived them of the necessary learning environment and opportunities for personal growth. The displacement caused by the war has uprooted these children from their familiar surroundings, exacerbating their feelings of insecurity and instability. Furthermore, the breakdown of infrastructure during the conflict has resulted in limited access to basic services, including healthcare, nutrition, and clean water. This has put their physical well-being at risk and increased their vulnerability to various health-related challenges.

The situation of orphans and vulnerable children in Ukraine is fraught with several challenges. The conflict has severely disrupted educational systems, denying children the sense of structure, safety, and normality that classrooms provide. This interruption hinders their cognitive and social development and limits their future prospects. Many Ukrainian orphans have been displaced and forgotten during the war, exacerbating their vulnerability. They face a constant state of horror, fear, and uncertainty, lacking the necessary support and care. Furthermore, orphans require immediate attention to meet their essential needs, including food, medicine, and access to clean water. The lack of these necessities further jeopardizes their physical health and well-being.

What We Do

At Nova Spark, we actively collaborate with small-scale and family-style orphanages, as well as those caring for disabled children, to address their specific challenges they face during the ongoing war. It is disheartening to witness how many of these orphanages struggle to meet even the most basic needs of the children under their care due to the crisis. We recognize that addressing the essential needs is crucial before the children can fully engage in their educational pursuits.  In response, we work closely with established Ukrainian non-profit organizations to provide vital support.

Our assistance encompasses a range of essential items that are often difficult to obtain through conventional channels. We supply food, clothing, medicine, and school supplies, recognizing their significance in ensuring the well-being and development of the children. Moreover, we extend financial aid to repair damages sustained by the orphanages during the war, ensuring a safe and healthy living environment for the children.

Since our mission primarily focuses on providing educational support, once we address the immediate humanitarian needs of children in an orphanage, we shift our efforts towards empowering them through education. We are deeply committed to providing educational opportunities and support to orphaned children. We firmly believe that education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all children, regardless of their circumstances. We tirelessly work to ensure orphaned children in Ukraine have access to online schooling, even in displacement or occupied areas. Our goal is to help them catch up on missed classes, complete high school, and pursue higher education. We provide mobile devices for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade, enabling uninterrupted education regardless of location or war-related challenges.

Through our combined focus on education and humanitarian aid, we aim to empower orphaned and vulnerable children, enabling them to overcome the adversities they face and build brighter futures.

With the support of compassionate individuals and organizations, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those in need.

Our Vision

We envision a world where orphaned children have equal opportunities for education and personal development, just like children who grow up in supportive families.

Mission

Our mission is to enable orphan children worldwide to reach their full potential through mentorship and education, to encourage their continuous growth, and to prepare them for success in society, work, and life.
