Northern Colorado Foodshed Project

The Northern Colorado Foodshed Project (NCFP) and Poudre Valley Community Farms (PVCF) have merged! Together, we have greater capacity to build a stronger and more sustainable food system for Northern Colorado.

Why does this matter? Food grown on local farmland has the power to transform communities. It connects people to the land, to the farmers who grow their food, and to their neighbors—while helping build a thriving local economy and ecosystem. But the future of Northern Colorado’s local food system is increasingly threatened. As one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, Northern Colorado loses approximately 2,500 acres of productive farmland to development each year. As development accelerates, affordable access to land has become one of the greatest challenges facing farmers. Without access to local farmland, food security and food sovereignty diminish, and communities lose the opportunity to build a more resilient, connected, and sustainable food system.

By uniting our organizations, NCFP and PVCF will be able to address these interconnected parts of the food system. Our mission is to:

• Secure access to land, water, and infrastructure for local farmers and food producers.
• Support emerging farm businesses as they build successful and sustainable enterprises.
• Expand access to locally produced food for people throughout Northern Colorado.
• Strengthen connections among the people who grow, eat, and care about food and the land where it is grown.
• Build a stronger and more resilient regional food system through collaboration, shared resources, and greater collective capacity.

The new organization will launch in early 2027 with an updated name, website and branding. Whether you donate to NCFP or PVCF, your donation is extremely important during this transition and will greatly increase our impact.
