A mom and son who lived in their car for the majority of the last school year. Mom did not like the son to be in the homeless shelter and they had exhausted all of their other options. Our goal was to make sure that the student got to school everyday. Once he was there he was fed and able to clean up in the nurses office. They also had access to showers through our other programs. This student needed a coat, not only to wear to and from school and at recess -- but he needed the coat to sleep in while living in the car. It served as his pajamas. His need serviced by the Coats & Boots program was not only a necessity, but at times a lifesaver.

Our mission is simple: to provide high quality winter coats and boots to Poudre School District's students living in poverty or in need. Our vision is that all children in Fort Collins will be properly outfitted for our wintry weather and be able to enjoy the pleasures of playing in the snow.
15 years ago the North Fort Collins Business Association had a call to action at a local school, kids were unable to play and enjoy snowy Colorado weather because they did not have the clothing to do so. Members went out and purchased new coats and boots for children in need and hand delivered. Each year the need grew and our grassroot efforts grew with it. The NFCBA partnered with JAX Outdoor Gear to purchase high quality coats and boots for the growing number of students. Today we serve the entire Poudre School District.
