At Noor El-Salam, we are a beacon of hope for Lebanon’s most vulnerable communities. Our mission is to provide education, humanitarian relief, and critical resources to children and families affected by displacement, poverty, and crisis. From establishing schools for refugee children to delivering life-saving aid, we strive to build brighter futures, one life at a time.
Your generosity helps us empower children who wouldn’t otherwise receive an education, offer displaced families essential support, and rebuild hope in communities facing unimaginable challenges. With your support, we’ve already educated over 485 students and enrolled over 200 children in our schools. Together, we can reach even more.
This Colorado Gives Day, we invite you to join us in making an impact. Every donation brings light to those living in darkness and helps us continue our vital work. Your gift, no matter the size, can transform lives and bring hope to those who need it most.
Make a difference today. Give the gift of hope, education, and opportunity. Together, we can illuminate the path forward for Lebanon.
We educate refugee children in Lebanon who are not otherwise allowed to attend school within the country, and provide humanitarian relief to Lebanese communities suffering from lack of electricity, food, and clean water.
Noor El-Salam's History
Noor El-Salam began its journey in northern Lebanon in 2022-23, operating a school to provide education for Syrian refugee children. However, due to the logistical and financial challenges of transporting students, the school was relocated to Beirut in 2023, where Noor El-Salam Academy continues its mission today. Serving over 200 children aged 5-14 from nearby slums, the Academy offers a vital education to those without access to public or private schooling. The dedicated staff includes a lead teacher, four teachers, an aide, and a custodian, with students attending in two half-day groups. Additionally, a midday class supports older, unschooled children who are new to learning. Operating year-round with a break in August, the Academy relies on support to fund essentials like schoolbooks, rent, and salaries, ensuring a brighter future for these young learners.
Lebanon: Historical and Humanitarian Context
Lebanon, a Mediterranean nation the size of Connecticut with 7.5 million people, has a rich history but is now facing one of the world’s worst economic crises, according to the World Bank. Once prosperous, the country now struggles with a collapsed banking system, widespread shortages of power, food, and medicine, leaving even the middle class in survival mode.
Refugee Crisis
Lebanon hosts 1.5 million Syrian refugees—20% of its population—the highest per capita in the world. Over 90% live in extreme poverty, with no access to education. Refugee children, living in tents and dependent on humanitarian aid, face a bleak future as resources are stretched thin.
Humanitarian Crisis
More than 1.3 million Lebanese citizens have also been displaced by regional conflict. Our efforts provide immediate support through trusted partners, delivering food, goods, and aid to those in desperate need.
Help us bring light and hope to Lebanon.
