Har Shalom Center for Jewish Living

A nonprofit organization

Har Shalom is an active center of Jewish learning and worship serving all of Northern Colorado. We are intentionally non-denominational and egalitarian, serving a wide diversity of spiritual paths. Our synagogue membership of 200+ families represents an inclusive rainbow of Jews from varied affiliations, backgrounds, and geographical origins.

Har Shalom is a vibrant and active community with many spiritual, social, educational, ritual, and justice-focused activities for all ages. Our Montessori-inspired preschool welcomes young students from the entire Northern Colorado community, and our religious school engages 100+ students in learning and comradery. We enthusiastically support lifelong learning for our community and staff through adult education classes and professional development.

Mission

Har Shalom is a diverse and inclusive community committed to building a warm, vibrant, and creative Center for Jewish Living.

Background Statement

In 1975, a handful of families from the Fort Collins and Loveland area founded a religious school for Jewish children, and became known as the Fort Collins Jewish Community. In 1979, we became officially known as Congregation Har Shalom (CHS), and for many years we were the only center of Jewish life between Greeley, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 2006 our community expanded its mission to become Har Shalom Center for Jewish Living.
