Caring for a child with special needs can be a 24/7 responsibility. For many families, finding safe, trusted childcare is difficult, and finding someone equipped to care for a child with medical, behavioral, or developmental needs can feel nearly impossible.
That means date nights, time with friends, running errands, or simply having a few quiet hours to recharge can be rare.
Night Lights helps fill that gap.
Your donation helps provide:
- Free monthly respite care, removing cost as a barrier for families
- Trained, background-checked volunteers who provide one-on-one care
- A registered nurse at every event to support children with medical needs
- Safe, welcoming spaces where children with special needs and their siblings can have fun and feel included
- Time for parents and caregivers to rest, reconnect, and recharge
Respite is more than a night off. It can reduce caregiver stress, strengthen families, and help parents continue providing the care their children need.

Mission
Night Lights provides respite care programs that create safe and accepting environments for children with special needs and their siblings.
Background Statement
Night Lights began in 2011 and is held once a month from 6:30pm - 10:00pm, year-round at sites in Arvada, Broomfield, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Littleton, Parker and SE Aurora. While at Night Lights, each child (the child with special needs and their siblings) is paired one-on-one with a trained, background-checked volunteer. During an evening at Night Lights, the children enjoy a variety of activities such as; gross motor, child-directed play, sensory activities, pet therapy, arts and crafts, and movies. There is a registered nurse on site for all Night Lights evenings to tend to the children with medical needs. Night Lights is for children ages 1 month till their 13th birthday.
