Neighbor To Neighbor Volunteers, as Mountain Valley Transit (formerly The Chaffee Shuttle) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. We provide FREE local transit options to anyone and everyone. We offer Fixed Route Services between Salida and Buena Vista as well as Door-to-Door services in the Arkansas River Valley. Our newest Fixed Route Services includes routes throughout the San Luis Valley, providing transportation to Salida and Alamosa. Whether you want to get to an appointment, go grocery shopping, get to work or school, connect with the Bustang to get to Denver, or just go play in our beautiful outdoor recreation areas, we’ve got you covered! While the service is free, donations are always welcomed.

The Chaffee Shuttle offers FREE transit services throughout the rural communities of the Arkansas River Valley and San Luis Valley in South Central Colorado. Our mission is to provide transit options for the area's residents and visitors – to increase access to key destinations in our communities and reduce household transportation costs, as well as decrease environmental pollutants through shared-ride alternatives.
The Chaffee Shuttle began in 2003 and is managed by Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteers, a rural transit nonprofit organization formed in Salida, CO in 1996.
