Mountain Valley Transit is a nonprofit rural transit agency that provides free transportation services in south-central Colorado. Our door-to-door services help increase independence and improve quality of life for residents and visitors in our area.
Whether you want to get to an appointment, go grocery shopping, ride to work or school, or just play in our beautiful outdoor recreation areas, we’ve got you covered. Local rides are free, with reasonable fees for trips to Colorado Springs, Denver, and other distant locations. Donations are always welcome!
"I have relied on Mountain Valley Transit to get me to and from my medical appointments. It has been a godsend for me."
"With the huge wait in getting the parts to fix my car, Mountain Valley Transit has been awesome in helping me and my kids get where we need to be."
"We had no idea before that we could use Mountain Valley Transit to connect to the Bustang and get to Denver. Thank you!"
Our mission is to provide transit options within our rural communities that increase access to key destinations, reduce household transportation costs, and decrease environmental impact through shared-ride alternatives.
Mountain Valley Transit began as Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteers in 1996, and in 2003 we changed our name to The Chaffee Shuttle. In 2021, as we began serving the six counties in the San Luis Valley, we started doing business as Mountain Valley Transit to better reflect our expanded service area.
