The Museum of Friends (MoF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit contemporary art museum located in the historic Roof & Dick Building in downtown Walsenburg, Colorado. Founded in 2006 by artists Brendt Berger and Maria Cocchiarelli, the museum has grown from an initial collection of 600 donated works to a diverse array of paintings, sculptures, prints, and digital media.
As a vibrant hub for art, culture, and community engagement, MoF celebrates the creative spirit of Southern Colorado. It also serves as an economic driver, creating jobs and supporting local businesses through initiatives like the Made in Walsenburg Gift Shop, which features handmade goods by local artists and entrepreneurs.
Our Mission
MoF is dedicated to fostering inclusivity, cross-cultural understanding, and community empowerment through art. We create opportunities for underserved, underrepresented, and under-resourced communities by:
Hosting exhibitions that inspire and educate.
Providing educational programs such as K-12 school tours, in-museum experiences, and public workshops.
Organizing community events that bring people together through art and culture.
Support Our Mission
As stewards of the historic Roof & Dick Building, MoF exemplifies the transformative power of historic preservation to revitalize communities. Our efforts preserve this cultural landmark while creating opportunities for economic growth, cultural exchange, and education.
A key example of our impact is the RedLine Art in Society collaboration, which includes a walking tour highlighting indigenous history (www.walkingwalsenburg.org). This project demonstrates MoF’s commitment to cultural storytelling and fostering deeper connections between history, art, and the community.
Your Support Matters
Your contribution ensures the Museum of Friends remains a year-round cultural resource for Southern Colorado. Donations directly support:
