From Scratch: Building a Food Museum Together

Food unites us all. It's time to bring connection back to the table.

Right now, our world can feel more divided than ever, which means that it is more important than ever to remember we are more similar than different

These similarities – and the flavor of our differences – deserve to be celebrated, not ignored or demonized. They’re the ingredients that make our world richer, more flavorful, and more human.

We need spaces where folks can come together across backgrounds and perspectives to share stories, listen deeply, and find common ground. Spaces that remind us that culture isn’t static and that the future isn’t doomed; it’s something we have the power to make. Together.

We will make this space because we have the most powerful ingredient: you
Our community.
And a shared belief that food tells the story of who we are and who we can be.

Together, we’re building that home from scratch. A community-built, community-powered museum where stories of resilience, identity and justice are the recipe for a more just and equitable future.

This season, we’re inviting our community to help us open our first physical space, fund our first full-time staff position, and bring our inaugural exhibition, Share & Tear: Food and Civic Power, to life!

Just like cooking from scratch, it takes care, creativity, and a lot of love.

We’re raising $6,000 by December 31 to open our first home. Every dollar builds more than walls; it builds a kitchen big enough for everyone.

Become a Founding Donor with a $25 monthly gift, or make a one-time donation of $100 today.

Add your impact to the recipe and let’s build this museum from scratch, with love! 💗

About Us

Founded in 2019, the Museum of Food and Culture is a museum based in Denver, CO specializing in virtual and pop-up interactive educational experiences. Over the past five years, the Museum has worked on a variety of programs designed to spark curiosity and inspire moments of community connection. Our programs have improved social dialogue around difficult topics like marginalization in history, cultural appropriation, personal ethics, and how identity evolves and changes.

The Museum of Food and Culture is a place (in-person and virtually!) where people can have a variety of experiences from cooking to gardening, tasting foods of other cultures to creating art, and from learning history to sharing pop culture.
