Mile High United Way

A nonprofit organization

At Mile High United Way, we believe. We believe every child deserves a strong start in life. We believe in the power of diverse and inclusive voices. We believe every person who calls Colorado home deserves the opportunity to thrive.

We connect families to the resources they need to thrive, grow and move toward economic success, from infancy through adulthood. Your investment in our work changes lives - making sure children have access to high-quality early care and education, young adults transitioning out of the child welfare system have stable housing and families can pay their rent and put food on the table. Last year, Mile High United Way served over 668,700 people through its direct services and partnerships with other organizations.

Creating a stronger, more resilient community is only possible when we are united. This Colorado Gives Day, you can make sure families get connected to the resources they need to thrive by making a gift today.

Mission

Since 1887, Mile High United Way has brought people together to solve our region's most pressing issues. From early childhood education and homelessness to food security and economic mobility — we unite people, ideas and resources to advance the common good.

Background Statement

Mile High United Way was founded in Denver, in 1887 with the same vision we have today: everyone in Colorado deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are stronger as a Community United. A group of visionaries, including a Denver woman, a priest, two ministers and a rabbi, who believed there must be a better way to meet the needs of local people, came together on October 16, 1887, and formed what is known today as Mile High United Way. Today, United Way has 1,800 local chapters around the globe.
