As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in our third year of operation, we are continuing to serve our Denver community. We have created a safe, accessible, and welcoming place kids can go in the afternoons, and believe in offering programming to ALL kids while remove barriers that limit access to the arts.

Theatre teaches us to collaborate with others, how to solve problems, how to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes, question systems or practices… and how to use our voices to address them!

The arts have a huge impact on youth development. We want our students to go out into their communities as leaders, whether they end up following a path in the arts or not.

Simply put, our vision is to use theatre as a tool to enrich the lives of and empower Denver youth.

Our 3rd year is here!

We’re at a pivotal pointand we can’t move forward alone.

Demand for our programs is growing, and so is our capacity to serve — but only if we have the resources to match. Your support directly fuels scholarships, performance opportunities, and the additional classroom space and venue rentals we need to welcome more young artists. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, MHYT relies on tax-deductible donations to make this work possible. Together, we can ensure that every student who wants to participate has the chance to do so.

In 2025, we:

  • Served 350 individual students through 21 summer camps and a summer musical
  • Expanded access through our tiered tuition scholarship model, allowing us to grow our scholarship fund
  • Launched a new Theatre for Young Audiences touring program, offering free performances to youth across the Denver Metro area
  • Produced 6 full theatrical productions with 145 individual youth performers

Demand for high-quality, inclusive theatre education is rising — and we’re answering the call.

If you’d like to learn more, schedule a call, or talk about how you or your organization can get involved, we’d love to connect. And if you’re able, please consider making a donation to help us continue expanding access to high-quality arts education.

Operational Support

There are a lot of operational costs associated with educational theatre: paying teachers a livable wage, technical equipment, licensing and royalties, venues, insurance...

Your gift goes directly to support our operational and programmatic goals. These goals include:

  • Supporting production needs like licensing & royalties, costumes, scenery, and technical equipment for our students
  • Hiring and training new teaching artists - and paying our artists well!
  • Continuing the development of our Encore Presents Theatre for Young Audiences program

We hope you will support Mile High Youth Theatre as a 2025-2026 donor.

Giving Activity

Mission

MHYT creates theatre experiences that allow students to thrive artistically, socially, and emotionally. We believe that in teaching empathy through the performing arts, we will not only nurture exceptional artists, but exceptional humans.

Background Statement

MHYT believes that theatre education should meet each child where they are and give them the tools to succeed both on and off the stage. The arts are a catalyst for community, teaching empathy, problem-solving, and a positive sense of self. We believe in creating space to celebrate our differences while building understanding for the experiences of others.
